Silla - Lead Vocals
All the way from America, Silla has quickly created a niche for herself within the UK’s music scene. This talented and versatile singer/songwriter captivates audiences with smooth, soulful, passionate vocals. Whether it’s R&B, neo-soul, pop or rock, she will leave you utterly enchanted.
Silla’s professional music career started in the mid 1990’s as a featured vocalist in Minneapolis based soul band, Vanguard, who most notably pulled off a mind blowing set opening up for The Roots at the iconic CBGB music club in NYC. She has fronted both original and covers bands, as well as worked as a session vocalist. She has shared the stage with the likes of The Ohio Players, Rick James, Zapp, and Dr. Fink (former member of Prince & the Revolution.)
Since relocating to the UK, Silla has performed in several renowned venues throughout the Thames Valley and London, including the West End. She is continually expanding her artistry having collaborated with hip hop and drum & bass producers, as well as singing with London’s Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir. Most recently, she’s ventured into television having appeared in productions for the BBC.
Her musical influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Freddie Jackson, Melody Gardot, Luther Vandross, Sade, Chaka Khan, Journey, Prince, Stevie Wonder, The Staple Singers, Patty Griffin, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Bon Jovi, Digital Underground, Queen Latifah, Amel Larrieux, Def Leppard, En Vogue, Michael Jackson, Cameo, Van Halen, and The Black Crowes (to name a few!)
